Job Type/Title:  1 on 1 Aide

Location:  McComb School – Elementary Age Student

Job Description:

Candidate should have a great deal of patience to work with students with multiple disabilities and/or behavioral issues

Candidate should have a passion for working with students in primary grades (K-3) and be willing to assist with behavioral needs, toileting and personal healthcare as needed

Provide appropriate support and encouragement to student

Assist student with class work in small groups and individually

Work under the supervision/direction of the classroom teacher

Be willing to be trained to meet the behavioral and educational needs of the student

Requirements:

Clean background check

ODE aide license – you will need to apply for this if you do not have one

High School Diploma

Participate in required training as provided

Title:   Teacher on Special Assignment

Department: Special Education

Building/Facility: Hancock County Educational Service Center (ESC) and Hancock County schools, scholarship providers

Reports to: Special Education Supervisor, Preschool Supervisor, ESC Superintendent

Employment Status: Full-time

General Description: Consult and collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, and other school personnel regarding issues with academic, social, and behavioral struggles for students. Complete assessments and observations for students in the ETR process. Complete and hold ETR meetings with support of Special Education Supervisor and School Psychologists. Serve as substitute Intervention Specialist for ESC classrooms in the event of teacher absence.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performing case management related to child find, such as: coordination of meetings including, but not limited to, intervention, parent communication, evaluation planning and discussion of evaluation results and eligibility determination; writing of required parent notices and letters, memos and reports regarding student data/progress, disseminating and gathering student information/data.
  2. Assessing student academic performance progress via curriculum-based measurement, interviews (parents, students, school personnel), standardized achievement tests and structured observation of students.
  3. Intervening with students through planning and training with the Special Education Supervisor, School Psychologist, or other school personnel (i.e. academic groups, social-emotional and behavioral supports and interventions, and individual student academic interventions);
  4. Observing students in the classroom regarding academic and or/behavioral concerns
  5. Serving as substitute Intervention Specialist for ESC unit classrooms as necessary and when available.

Requirements: A quick learner and has training and experience with providing interventions for students. Familiar with disability categories in Ohio and holds and Intervention Specialist License and/or has the credentials to hold a teaching license or a Pupil Services license in Ohio.

NOTE: The educator on special assignment (to assist with delegated school psychology duties) will not provide the following: intelligence or ability testing, assessing any student using a test that would violate “qualifications for use” policy by the test publisher, counseling students individually or in groups, interpreting student data other than academic achievement data; holding or participating in evaluation team meetings without the supervising Special Education Supervisor or School Psychologist or offering independent consultation with parents or teachers without the direction or direct supervision by the current supervising school psychologist or supervisor of special education.
