In her Last Will and Testament, Marie Dodge Berry left one-third of her residual estate to be set aside and administered as the Marie Berry Educational Fund. The purpose of this program is to award scholarships to deserving students and to provide them with financial assistance to further their post-secondary education. In her Last Will and Testament Mrs. Berry stated:

“It is my earnest desire to help, aid, and assist worthy young men and women of either Findlay, Ohio or Hancock County, to acquire a good education, so that they may be better fitted and qualified to appreciate and help to preserve the laws and the constitution of this free country, and by their conduct as good citizens, reflect honor on the City of Findlay and State of Ohio.”

“It is my desire that as many students as possible take advantage of this provision of my will.”

A few of the requirements for eligibility for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Graduating from a state charted high school located in Hancock County.

  • The applicant must demonstrate hard work, good citizenship, dependability, and character.

  • The demonstration of financial need is an essential requirement.

The Marie Berry Scholarship is renewable for three additional years. In May of 2024 the scholarship committee presented awards to 22 new recipients and 38 renewal applicants totaling over $100,000.00 for the 24-25 school year.
