Miss Keely's class started the day before winter break off right with pancakes! Students mixed their batter and helped flip their pancakes onto their plates. Best of all, they enjoyed eating them. A breakfast of champions!!!

Sweet surprise Thursday! 🍪✨ Mrs. Kahle’s class is selling snacks to Van Buren teachers on Thursdays to spread a little joy and extra energy. A tiny treat can make a big difference—who doesn’t love a midweek pick-me-up? 😋📚

🎶 Yesterday, Miss Lorna brought some extra holiday fun to our day! Students rang bells while playing Christmas carols and used the parachute to move along to the rhythm of the songs. Music, movement, and lots of smiles filled the room—and as always, everyone loved the parachute! 🎄✨

☕️ We had another great visit with Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee yesterday! Mrs. Tyson’s class loved the experience and took pride in practicing important life skills along the way. Afterward, students made sure to wash and care for their aprons before heading into Christmas break—working on responsibility, independence, and real-world routines. What a great way to wrap up the season! 🎄✨

Miss Altman’s class worked together on a creative door decoration project! 🎨🚪 After researching design ideas, the students collaborated to choose one. Art students Eli, Charles, and Preston sketched the characters and planned the layout, then helped direct their classmates as everyone colored the pieces. This project encouraged teamwork, communication, and leadership skills throughout the process! 👏✨

We are family! Mrs. Tyson's class gathered for a family picture today as everyone was "twinning" thanks to a special family for furnishing matching Christmas shirts for the class and staff.

Yesterday, Miss Allie from FRC visited our classrooms to talk about family traditions. Each student shared a special Christmas tradition their family celebrates, then decorated their very own Christmas ornament. A fun and meaningful way to celebrate the season! 🎄✨

The Grinch made a surprise visit to our Riverdale classrooms today! 💚🎄
There were lots of smiles, laughs, and excitement as students got to see the Grinch spreading a little holiday mischief and cheer. It was a fun and memorable way to brighten our school day!

Mrs. Perkins’ class and Mrs. Tyson’s class each participated in OT and speech sessions today with a sweet, hands-on activity! 🍪 Students worked on mixing cookie dough, “baking” it, rolling it out, adding frosting, and then enjoying their cookies. These activities helped build fine motor skills, following directions, and communication in a fun and engaging way.

Ms. Wilson’s class had a sweet day decorating cookies alongside Speech and OT! Students worked on fine motor skills, following directions, and communication while having lots of fun creating their tasty treats. A great blend of learning and smiles all around! 🍪✨

Mrs. Tyson’s class took a trip to Millstream last week for some great hands-on learning! Students got the chance to make popcorn, put together food kits, and learn how to run a dishwasher. It was a fun and meaningful experience practicing real-world and life skills outside of the classroom. 🍿🧼

Mr. Weinstein’s high school class spent the day giving back!
For their community service day, students volunteered at the City Mission Transitions Thrift Store, lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. 💙
From organizing donations to assisting staff, our students worked hard and made a positive impact in our community. 🙌
#CommunityService #GivingBack

Mrs. Shelton’s class got quite the surprise this morning! Our mischievous class elf played a big trick to celebrate day number 67 of school! 🎉
He hid the number 67 all around the room, snuck it into random spots in our morning meeting slides, and even gave each kid their own 67… bruh! 😂
Lots of laughs, lots of searching, and the perfect way to kick off our day! ✨

🎄🍪 Holiday Fun in Mrs. Perkins’ Class! 🍪🎄
Our students worked on a special Family Project — helping disguise a Gingerbread Man so the children won’t find him and eat him! 😂
Families got creative with colors, costumes, and plenty of festive imagination. We loved seeing all the unique disguises and the joy this project brought to our classroom!
Great job, families and kiddos! ❤️✨

🎄✨ It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our classrooms!
Last week, Mrs. Tyson’s class got creative and crafty by making their very own Christmas gnomes — each one filled with personality and holiday cheer.
This morning, those gnomes had a special surprise waiting! Mrs. VanDenEynde’s class discovered that their classroom elf had hidden himself right among the gnomes! The students had a blast searching through the festive creations to find their sneaky visitor.
Nothing like a little holiday magic to start the day! 🎅🧝♂️🎄

🎄✨ Mrs. VanDenEynde’s class has been busy little elves this week! Students have been hard at work creating Christmas surprises for their parents — and having a blast while doing it. With lots of measuring, mixing, and following steps, it turned into the perfect hands-on way to practice important math skills.
We can’t wait for families to see the holiday magic they’ve been cooking up! 🎁✨

Mrs. Tyson’s class had a special visit from the Family Resource Center this week!
Students learned all about the importance of good hygiene through fun, hands-on demonstrations. They loved seeing how germs can spread and discovering the best ways to keep themselves healthy every day.
A big thank-you to FRC for helping our students build strong habits that keep our classrooms happy and healthy! 💙🧼✨

🦃✨ Our kiddos in ABA are kicking off the countdown to Turkey Day with some festive fine motor fun! ✨🖍️
Today they practiced tracing Thanksgiving-themed items, strengthening their fine motor skills while getting into the holiday spirit. We love seeing their focus, creativity, and excitement grow as we head toward the holiday! 🍁🦃💛

Did someone say fall party? 🍂 Mr. Woodard and Mrs. Kahle’s classes celebrated Thanksgiving in style! The students kicked things off with a lively game of BINGO for prizes! Then they crafted turkey gobbler cups that actually make gobbling sounds — too cute! To finish, each student made either a pumpkin pie in a cup or an apple pie in a cup. 🦃🥧

Mrs. Perkins’ students earned a Stuffed Animal Play-Date Day after collecting all eight turkey feathers for showing great behavior throughout November! 🦃🎉
To celebrate, everyone brought their favorite stuffed animal to school and enjoyed a day full of hands-on learning and fun. Students answered questions about their animals, built cozy houses out of blocks, sorted animals into different categories, and even joined in a competitive game of stuffed animal hide-and-seek! 🧸🏠🔍
We’re so proud of their hard work and positive choices this month! 💛
